Most to my surprise, he even dares to predict in precise minute when the earthquack will strike.
And about an hour after the predicted time, he claims that he was drunk when he said that.
And on about May 12th, he says that he has given up 30 years of his life to delay this disaster.
I personally tend to believe that he’s drunk.

I have a lame list nomination to all those who claims huge nature disaster is coming. I mean, we all know if we keep wasting resource, the world is ending someday. But no one can predict nature disasters… right?
This guy in Taiwan (where I live) just predicted there will be a earthquake of scale 14 on May 11th. Does that make sense? Not to me, because we all know as the scale goes up, the energy it releases go up exponentially. A scale of 14… I don’t know, it might just create a new continent?

And the worst part is, when people place suspicious on the prediction, this predictor jumps out and said: “This is not a prediction, this is the truth.” Well, can’t argue with that anymore I suppose.

But for more “prove” of Google being nerdy, stable Cr has a mass number between 52-54, so 48 might just represents it as a beta.

I’m sorry about the Google TV thing. It’s just a random headline I spot somewhere… and I believed it.

I saw it on the news that Google had stopped producing Google TV, and after hearing the reason why Google Phone is lame, I find it shocking that they both failed for the same reason. They think the provider and the TV network would cooperate with them even if they didn’t talk to them in the first place.

Then guess what? No providers but one supports Google Phone, and all TV network banned Google TV from visiting their page. It’s just totsl FAIL.

Did you know that in Canada, if you want to buy apps for your iPod Touch/iPhone, or even just a game for your iPod nano/classic, then you can’t pay using an iTunes giftcard? You have to pay using your credit card. As I don’t have a credit card (I’m in highschool, in gr. 11) this is incredibly frustrating. For once, it’s not the App store’s fault- it’s some sort of Canadian law, but it’s definitely lame.

Love the podcast, even though I’m actually anti-Mac/pro-PC. I’ve never had any sort of serious problem with my PC, and neither have my friends with their PCs- several of them run Vista and don’t understand what all the fuss is about, as it’s working just fine for all of them, and I actually know two people who abandoned Mac OS X in favour of Vista. I liked Macs- the OS always struck me as counterintuitive, and they’re so much more expensive than a good PC. But now I’m just ranting, and you’ve covered at least some of that stuff.

Do you know of any good month-to-month wireless internet or Wi-Max services in Guadalajara?

I’m going to be spending a month there this summer working remotely. I’d like to just buy a month’s worth of access instead of scrounging for time at an interweb café or hanging out at a Starbucks like some tourist.

(Also, yeah. Outlook has many warts, but compared to the unholy beast that is Lotus Notes, Outlook is like a fine Italian sports car)

With that out of the way – a lot of iTablet/iSlate/iCanvas rumorology seems to focus on this perceived problem: “I have an iPhone, I have a MacBook, what do I want a tablet for?” I wonder if the hypothetical tablet isn’t a potential replacement for the macbook line. In the past Apple killed their own very popular iPod mini for the iPod Nano…what if this slate concept is just the new portable form factor?

I can imagine an ‘easel’ or something on your desk which props up your tablet, with a wireless keyboard and mouse close by. The device switches to a ‘tablet mode’ (sort of like front row) when an accelerometer detects motion or a non-docked position.

I guess we’ll know on the 27th.

Noah, I think you were hypothesizing that if a significant number of major newspapers (if not all) banded together in creating a subscription only service that it may entice users to subscribe either in print or digitally…you argued that you’d consider it. To add a sliver of anec-data I wouldn’t even give it a second thought. I haven’t subscribed to a newspaper in nearly 10 years.

I am curious how well major newspapers are doing on the Kindle and if that type of electronic publishing has a profitable future.

Regarding Rosetta – OS X 10.6 (OS X.6?) will download and install Rosetta automatically when you launch an app which requires it. I run an ancient, beardy copy of Adobe Illustrator which triggered the install. It downloaded, installed, and then Illustrator ran just fine.

That said, folks with non-iPod hardware might have trouble with m4a files and so it still might be worth it to put up a mp3 version.

I personally prefer mp3 since I can download it and put it on my iPod nano. Which (correct me if I’m wrong) I can’t do with an m4a file (since it’s a technically video and I have an early version of the iPod nano).

We only create a m4a version of the version of the podcast. I’ll talk to Eddie about it and maybe if he’s up to he will start to create a mp3 version as well.

I’ve been running the 3.0 update on an original Edge network phone, and I haven’t noticed a significant slow down – yeah a little bit here and there – but not like what you described. You may want to try a full restore.

There is some talk about the Pre syncing with itunes as an ipod and multi-touch leading to trouble and/or law suits with Apple. I believe that Apple will probably let the Pre exist in order to give the iphone a legitimate competitor without actually being a threat to the iphone. That way Apple can avoid the nasty Monopoly talk.

I would also argue that Noah is mistaken you can get a 1000$ laptop that is good. They are the new class of laptops that are emerging called netbooks and I question if Apple will be able to compete in the market given the cost target off appears to be less than 500$. I’m curious what the lame crew thinks of netbooks.

I’ve been listening to the show for a long time, and I really enjoy the more relaxed approach you take to tech-discussion.

Betta, have you tried the Subscribe in iTunes link? You can download the episode straight into iTunes and your iPod touch should have no problem with the .m4a file.

I actually like the new look of the Pepsi logo (as well as Mtn Dew and Sierra Mist). It seems to have a more sleek and modern look to it; almost a little Wii or iPod-esque with the font even.

here is two more cents (for a total of four so far) from another 2PS! fan.

I, for one, Hate with every fiber of my being the new Pepsi and Mountain Dew designs…
The Pepsi Logo looks too bland, and the white part looks almost exactly like the white ribbon underneath the Coca-cola logo I can match them up for a complete match… It also looks like a red and blue Pac-man with downs syndrome.(I know. I’m bad)
on the topic of “mtn” dew, I hate the fact that they can’t spell ‘Mountain’ out and the vaguely mountain looking spikes in the background are another part of ridicule, “are they teeth? are they stalagmites? *flips the bottle upside down* are they stalactites? are they stale candy corn?” I just hope they don’t update the ‘Code red’ and ‘Voltage’ Mountain Dew bottles, because I drink that more than the regular one…

Though, in retrospect, I remember being disappointed by the 1991 logo when it first came about – it almost seemed like a part of my childhood was disappearing. In fact, I’m often way too overjoyed whenever I see the ’80s version in TV and movies (e.g. Back to the Future).

The publicly reported reason that MailWrangler app was refused was for “causing user confusion” which sounds silly, but it isn’t really. All applications on the iPhone can tap into the Mobile Mail app as a service for emailing a link, emailing a photo etc.

The 3rd party app cannot provide these services, so a user of the MailWrangler app would have to use built in mail for all integrated email options. That would pretty much suck.

Mobile Mail certainly does support multiple gmail accounts, via IMAP or POP.

Using IMAP, if you want to “star” or mark an email as spam with the Mobile Mail app, simply move the message to the appropriate provided folder (“Starred” or “Spam”).

The instructions are available from Google’s Gmail app itself – and since I access gmail via IMAP in my desktop mail application, iTunes simply synchs the configuration over, and I don’t have to set anything up at all.

It was also reported that the MailWrangler had a “feature” whereby once you set up the app, you couldn’t change the settings or preferences. Apparently the developer chose to whine on his blog instead of actually fixing the problem. if true…that’s a pretty good reason not to allow the app.

I completely agree Apple should be clear and forthright with AppStore policies…but the 6 or so apps that have made all this noise recently (out of the thousands that have been approved) probably are flukes or actually deserved it.
