David,

Yes, we're aware that episode 54 keeps popping up in the feed (and now 56)

Currently we don't know why it's happening or how to fix it.

I agree that it's lame.

OK Guys ..

I left you a message that episode 54 kept popping up on iTunes, even after I had already downloaded and listened to it. Now episode 56 keeps appearing. What's the deal? It's so Lame!

Seriously, I like your show, but I don't need to listen to episode 56 more than once.

Hey Noah, Here's a non-podcast-related question:

Do you know of any good month-to-month wireless internet or Wi-Max services in Guadalajara?

I'm going to be spending a month there this summer working remotely. I'd like to just buy a month's worth of access instead of scrounging for time at an interweb café or hanging out at a Starbucks like some tourist.

(Also, yeah. Outlook has many warts, but compared to the unholy beast that is Lotus Notes, Outlook is like a fine Italian sports car)

Episode 54 keeps appearing in iTunes as a new podcast, no matter how many times I delete it or download it (every time I delete it again, it reappears as one that I have not yet downloaded).

Hey there, Eddie and Noah. Greetings from the Netherlands.
I just wanted to drop by your site to tell you you've got a new listener, and give you a good ol' "keep up the good work" and "Congratulations on your new crew- and family member."

To someone who doesn't pay attention to the developments in consumer electronics at all, your show has not only been fun to listen to listen to, but also pretty educational.
I hope your next episode comes out soon, so you two can educate me on what Apple's iPad is about.

Right after I listened to this episode, iTunes started telling me that the feed for the show --- http://feeds.feedburner.com/TheLameShow --- is no longer a valid podcast URL. Is something wrong?

Pat Robertson is a douchewaffle. He and Rush Limbaugh should go live on an island somewhere.

With that out of the way - a lot of iTablet/iSlate/iCanvas rumorology seems to focus on this perceived problem: "I have an iPhone, I have a MacBook, what do I want a tablet for?" I wonder if the hypothetical tablet isn't a potential replacement for the macbook line. In the past Apple killed their own very popular iPod mini for the iPod Nano...what if this slate concept is just the new portable form factor?

I can imagine an 'easel' or something on your desk which props up your tablet, with a wireless keyboard and mouse close by. The device switches to a 'tablet mode' (sort of like front row) when an accelerometer detects motion or a non-docked position.

I guess we'll know on the 27th.

Congratulations on the new addition to your family!

I am whole heartedly with Noah's pick. I am a God fearing man and he deeply offends me and my religion. I would add that this isn't the first time. Jon Stewart's comment fits best "Shut your pie-hole old man!".

I really enjoyed the discussion about the newspaper industry - and I have to agree OregonLive.com is garbage. Aren't there other BlahBlahLive.com sites based on the same software? I seem to remember seeing a clone someplace. At any rate OregonLive.com pales in comparison to the actual Oregonian - I think they would be better off without a web site. OregonLive is ugly, difficult to use, annoys you with dumb popups asking for demographic information, and is basically useless.

Noah, I think you were hypothesizing that if a significant number of major newspapers (if not all) banded together in creating a subscription only service that it may entice users to subscribe either in print or digitally...you argued that you'd consider it. To add a sliver of anec-data I wouldn't even give it a second thought. I haven't subscribed to a newspaper in nearly 10 years.

I am curious how well major newspapers are doing on the Kindle and if that type of electronic publishing has a profitable future.

Regarding Rosetta - OS X 10.6 (OS X.6?) will download and install Rosetta automatically when you launch an app which requires it. I run an ancient, beardy copy of Adobe Illustrator which triggered the install. It downloaded, installed, and then Illustrator ran just fine.

Thanks for the free entertainment. (won't someone think of the podcast industry?)

Hey guys, I just wanted to ask you what you think Mac OS 11 (It will come, eventually) will have it's name based on. Like how OS 10 is great cats or something. I'm thinking something along the lines of Mac OS 11.3.2 Syphilis? 10.5.3 Gonorrhea? Hope that was good for a laugh, keep up the good work.

Actually, you should be able to put the m4a file on your nano or any other iPod. The video album art might not work, but the audio should be just fine. I actually put the m4a version of the podcast on my 2nd generation iPod Shuffle and it works just fine.

That said, folks with non-iPod hardware might have trouble with m4a files and so it still might be worth it to put up a mp3 version.

Oh wow, thanks for that guys.

I personally prefer mp3 since I can download it and put it on my iPod nano. Which (correct me if I'm wrong) I can't do with an m4a file (since it's a technically video and I have an early version of the iPod nano).

Mostly to prove to myself that it could be done, I've added the mp3 version of the podcast to the original post above. I'm not sure if we will continue to do this, it depends on the feedback we get from you, the listener! :D

Hey Kyle,

We only create a m4a version of the version of the podcast. I'll talk to Eddie about it and maybe if he's up to he will start to create a mp3 version as well.

Although it took me a few minutes to warm up, those of you always hoping for something between now and Monday should find more than enough here to enjoy. [...]

Eddie, I think maybe your 3.0 software update went [bonk].

I've been running the 3.0 update on an original Edge network phone, and I haven't noticed a significant slow down - yeah a little bit here and there - but not like what you described. You may want to try a full restore.

Love the podcast!

So I wanted to give a little feedback on my new Palm Pre. I would start by saying that I love it. Some of the high points as compared to the iphone are: actual keyboard!, multitasking, synergy, size(it is a much better size then the big iphone). Downside: lack of apps and 1.0 product. It would be great if there was the selection of apps that the iphone had but I believe that it is just a matter of time, and a function of sales, until they appear. 1.0 product means that there are rough edges to the software that need to be worked out but luckily it is VERY functional out of the gate. Additionally people are complaining about some missing obvious functionallity, but I believe this is a case of better to miss the functions then to get them wrong.

There is some talk about the Pre syncing with itunes as an ipod and multi-touch leading to trouble and/or law suits with Apple. I believe that Apple will probably let the Pre exist in order to give the iphone a legitimate competitor without actually being a threat to the iphone. That way Apple can avoid the nasty Monopoly talk.

Apple is still rejecting apps for dumb reasons. They just rejected an app from the Electronic Freedom Foundation (EFF) because one of their recent blog posts linked to a Hitler parody video (which is of course available from both Safari on the iPhone and from the iPhone YouTube app. More info here: http://www.eff.org/deeplinks/2009/06/oh-come-apple-reject

I agree with the conclusion that Macs are in general a higher quality product then PCs, however one must also concede two things: you are also paying for the Apple name, just like BMW, and also contains a stigma, good or bad, just like BMW. I like that the commercials high light both of these and no surprise that they neglect to mention that Apple is in general a superior quality product.

I would also argue that Noah is mistaken you can get a 1000$ laptop that is good. They are the new class of laptops that are emerging called netbooks and I question if Apple will be able to compete in the market given the cost target off appears to be less than 500$. I'm curious what the lame crew thinks of netbooks.

<blockquote>This podcast fails this time. I’m betting it’s great, but the download button yeilds a blank page, and it won’t play on my iPod Touch. Sad face.</blockquote>

Betta, have you tried the <a href="http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewPodcast?id=204644161" title="Subscribe in iTunes" rel="nofollow">Subscribe in iTunes</a> link? You can download the episode straight into iTunes and your iPod touch should have no problem with the .m4a file.

<blockquote>

Here’s 2 cents from a 2Pstart fan:

I actually like the new look of the Pepsi logo (as well as Mtn Dew and Sierra Mist). It seems to have a more sleek and modern look to it; almost a little Wii or iPod-esque with the font even.

</blockquote>
here is two more cents (for a total of four so far) from another 2PS! fan.

I, for one, Hate with every fiber of my being the new Pepsi and Mountain Dew designs...
The Pepsi Logo looks too bland, and the white part looks almost exactly like the white ribbon underneath the Coca-cola logo I can match them up for a complete match... It also looks like a red and blue Pac-man with downs syndrome.(I know. I'm bad)
on the topic of "mtn" dew, I hate the fact that they can't spell 'Mountain' out and the vaguely mountain looking spikes in the background are another part of ridicule, "are they teeth? are they stalagmites? *flips the bottle upside down* are they stalactites? are they stale candy corn?" I just hope they don't update the 'Code red' and 'Voltage' Mountain Dew bottles, because I drink that more than the regular one...

Though, in retrospect, I remember being disappointed by the 1991 logo when it first came about - it almost seemed like a part of my childhood was disappearing. In fact, I'm often way too overjoyed whenever I see the '80s version in TV and movies (e.g. Back to the Future).

I've got a Lame List. When I'm on my home computer, the Lame Show downloads as a Audio Podcast. If I use WiFi on my iPod Touch, it's a video podcast, meaning that if I want to do something else on my Touch, I have to leave the podcast and restart it by double tapping the Home button and selecting play from there.

It is a setting in WordPress, which we have now changed. You should now be able to see all the entries in the podcast feed.

Caution is advised on listening to the really old episodes!

Yes, I did. It only goes back to episode 34: Not Very Cuil in the iTunes store. This is also not cuil. I mean, 2PSTART Live shows all the episodes back to episode 1, so I really don't know why it does this for you podcast. I wonder if the fact that you spread them over multiple pages on your site while on 2PSTART they are all on one page has anything to do with it.

I recently found this podcast after listening to 2PSTART Live for a while, and it bugs me how I can't download any of the eariler podcasts! Well, I can, but iTunes won't recognize it as a podcast, just as an audio file. THAT belongs on the Lame List... >.>

Is there anything you can do about this?

There actually is a Harry Potter Lego game. When playing Lego Indiana Jones, there is a hallway outside of the university. There are 3 pillars. The second and third are both charecters out of the 2 Lego stars wars games.
Thanks for bringing up the "look at our new toys on election day" as your lame list nomination, Noah. I simply couldn't believe they even had this stuff sitting in a back room collecting dust before election day, while we have to suffer on a daily basis with the worst .gif animations of rain and clouds for our daily forecast graphics.

Yeah, from what I heard, Clone Wars was originally supposed to be a show, but then George Lucas changed things up because he found it too epic for T.V.

And didn't they already have a Clone Wars series on Cartoon Network?

Lame....

But anyways, great podcast guys, once again!

I enjoy your podcast quite a bit, but I have to point out something about the great App Store debacle...

The publicly reported reason that MailWrangler app was refused was for "causing user confusion" which sounds silly, but it isn't really. All applications on the iPhone can tap into the Mobile Mail app as a service for emailing a link, emailing a photo etc.

The 3rd party app cannot provide these services, so a user of the MailWrangler app would have to use built in mail for all integrated email options. That would pretty much suck.

Mobile Mail certainly does support multiple gmail accounts, via IMAP or POP.

Using IMAP, if you want to "star" or mark an email as spam with the Mobile Mail app, simply move the message to the appropriate provided folder ("Starred" or "Spam").

The instructions are available from Google's Gmail app itself - and since I access gmail via IMAP in my desktop mail application, iTunes simply synchs the configuration over, and I don't have to set anything up at all.

It was also reported that the MailWrangler had a "feature" whereby once you set up the app, you couldn't change the settings or preferences. Apparently the developer chose to whine on his blog instead of actually fixing the problem. if true...that's a pretty good reason not to allow the app.

I completely agree Apple should be clear and forthright with AppStore policies...but the 6 or so apps that have made all this noise recently (out of the thousands that have been approved) probably are flukes or actually deserved it.

Nice podcast, I like Ray's guest appearance (as I frequent his site), I definitely agree on the "clone wars" thing. If it was a pilot for a TV show, It shouldn't have had a theater release (and subsequent happy meal promotion) I just hope the show crashes and burns.
